I’m Sarah, the mom, and alongside my husband, Mike, and our two amazing kids, Jack (10) and Emma (4), we’ve made it our mission to uncover the hidden gems of Florida while creating memories that last a lifetime.
Why We Love to Travel
Traveling has always been a big part of our lives, but it’s taken on a whole new meaning since Jack and Emma came along. Mike and I realized early on how much our kids thrive when they’re out exploring new places. Jack is a budding nature enthusiast who loves learning about wildlife, and Emma is our little adventurer, always ready to dig in the sand or splash in the water.
Living in Florida gives us access to an incredible variety of destinations—from beaches and springs to cities and theme parks. It’s our backyard playground, and we’re constantly amazed at how much there is to discover right here in our home state.
Some of Our Favorite Spots
One of our family’s favorite places to visit is the Florida Keys. There’s something magical about kayaking through the mangroves or snorkeling at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. Jack always has his eyes peeled for fish and coral, while Emma loves spotting sea turtles.
Another beloved destination is Sanibel Island. We’ve made it a tradition to hunt for seashells there, and Emma once found a perfect sand dollar that she called her “treasure.” Every trip feels like a treasure hunt, and it’s become such a special part of our family adventures.
When we’re not at the beach, we love exploring Florida’s cities. St. Augustine is a favorite, especially for Jack, who’s fascinated by history. Walking the old cobblestone streets and visiting the Castillo de San Marcos always sparks his imagination. And of course, no list of favorite places would be complete without Walt Disney World. Emma’s face lights up every time she meets a princess—it’s pure magic for her and for us, too.

We’ve found so much joy in traveling as a family that we wanted to share it with others. That’s how our blog, “Sunshine Explorers,” came to be. Through our posts, we document our adventures, offering tips and insights for other families who want to travel with kids.
We write about everything from the best beaches and outdoor activities to practical advice like packing tips, kid-friendly attractions, and how to balance fun with learning. Our goal is to show that traveling with kids isn’t just doable—it’s absolutely worth it.
